Yoga is not a religion. It is a science, science of well-being, science of youthfulness, science of integrating the body, the breath, the mind and the soul. Anyone can practice yoga from any background, religion, race or body size. Yoga is about bringing yourself into a focused state through the linking of mind, body, and breath.

Starting from where you are at is what is important, honoring yourself for wherever you are currently at. Having the desire to build a practice is also essential, since you are reading this I assume you already have the interest and desire to create a yoga practice so it sounds like you are off to a good start!

Starting slow and steady is the key with yoga and many other things in life. Starting with New Student Orientation here at Monarch Yoga is a great place to start. This can help ease any anxiety that you might feel about your first yoga class and classes might best work for you.

Any beginner’s yoga class, morning flow or all levels class is suitable for beginners but starting slow and building from there is essential.

Our Yoga 101 Basics Workshop series class is also a great place to begin, this allows you to have a greater understanding of yoga and the postures. This series runs typically once a week for 4 weeks and is an hour long, this is a great place to start along with any of our Unlimited Yoga plans.

 

 

Follow your breath, listen to your body, be gentle with yourself and enjoy the journey of yoga.
